The Yukon

In October 2019, I travelled to the Yukon with a Langara Continuing Studies photography group. I realised that my love for mountains, big skies, and magic light must have been embedded into me from childhood. Although it had been over thirty years, it felt like coming home.

Wide vistas

Dawn on the highway, vistas of snowy mountains, and a lunch stop at the unforgettable Kathleen Lake.

Time standing still

Endless highways (gratefully paved now) and mountains. During the days, stops to explore Bennett Lake, Carcross, Champagne, Whitehorse, and the Wildlife Reserve; at night, out in a field awaiting the northern lights.

Yukon Northern Lights Photography Tour, Langara College Continuing Studies, led by Jim Balderston, October 16-20, 2019.

Itinerary included: Whitehorse; White Pass, Carcross, and Emerald Lake; Wildlife Preserve; Kathleen Lake; nightly aurora viewing
